We all search for the moment when we are at utter peace and find the perfection we are in search of. When nothing matters but a single point in time and we can truly understand our place in the world. This is the zen of cycling!!

Why do I ride? Fun. Power. Exercise. Challenge. Commute. Tranquility.
Speed. Cruisin’. Thrill. Peace. Excitement. Bird watching. Go to the beach.
Go visit friends. Take a kid out riding. FUN.

Sometimes, I ride to RACE….
Sometimes, I ride to get someplace
Often, I ride at a slower pace
Sometimes I ride with style & grace
Once I crashed onto my face
Off-road, we leave no trace
I LOVE TO RIDE! I LOVE TO BIKE!

I ride for my family.
The exercise makes us healthier and
the group ride brings us closer together.
I ride for my friends, the ones I have met and
the ones that I will meet on the next ride.
I ride for the love of the ride.
I love to feel the power of pulling the paceline and
the speed of the sprint.
Ride On!

When I recieved a “wake-up” call from Doctor to get in shape, the only thing I could imagine as my three year old growing up without a father like I did.
Then he said something that set something off in me, he said find something you like to do and stay faithful to it. All of a sudden, I remembered that when I was young and felt lonely, I hopped on my bicycle. To everyone else, it was a bike, but to me, it was an airplane, a rocket, a wild mustang and my chance to get away.
So, after finding an old Schwinn at a church garage sale, I restored it, and I am blasting off again, not just for me, but for my family…

Hi. I like what Joey says about the bike as friend, rocket, airplane, etc.
I remember referring to one bike as my “silver steed”. Yeah,
Hi-yo, Silver, awaaaay!
Keep riding…..

I ride to reverse aging best I can,
I ride so I can beat my 5 year old grandson at something.
I ride so I can keep eating pizza.
I ride because that 80 year old lady that walks her dog claps for me when I go by.
I ride because it is the most fun way to exercise.

To TEC:
yeah, we’re all trying to fight that aging thing happening. I used to love to take the nephews mountain biking and leave them eating my dust. I wonder if I can still beat some of my nephews….or any of them?
Have to call a couple of the kids and take ‘em out and try….

To Karen Burwell: I won the Tour race in the neighborhood – it was an easy victory because my opponent wasn’t old enough to leave the drikveway —–

Fun, transportation, thrills…I also ride to share the fun of biking. I love to invite nieces and nephews to go for rides. Most kids today only get to ride in their driveways with Mom and Dad close by. They don’t have the freedom we had to take off exploring on our bikes. So I like to take them to quiet areas to ride. We have introduced several kids – relatives and the kids of friends- to road riding and mountain biking. It is fun to ride. It is fun to bring this kind of joy to the kids we know. They all know we’re always willing to take them along for a great adventure. When they see what it’s like to ride for some miles (instead of a few blocks) or to go into the woods and test their mettle, it is so rewarding for us as we watch them fall in love with biking. And with a good bike (those who are big enough get to ride one of our bikes instead of their toy store bikes. They feel the difference!
