The Art of Cycling: what an inspiration! The stream of bikes coming downhill
reminded me of lave flowing down the slopes of a mountain, only very fast.

Rick: you made me remember something. When I was a kid, I would race all the boys at school in running, and usually won. Then a boy challenged me to a bike race—and I won. I wish I’d known about bike racing when I was twelve to seventeen. I was always on the bike, and I was fast. I’m not so fast any more!

Don’t feel bad. I didn’t start until age 67, after a bout with cancer,& last year rode 8, 500 road miles at age 75. Nothing has ever been so exhilarating. Ride on young man.
