10 Recommend Cycling Books
Just got done reading Training and Racing with a Power Meter by Hunter Allen and thought it was excellent. I have been training with a Power Tap power meter for the last couple of years and wanted to better understand how to train and race with power. If you train with a power meter I would highly recommend the book.
Below is a list of good cycling reads that are not in any particular order.

I got a couple recommendations.
Major Taylor: The Extraordinary Career of a Champion Bicycle Racer
Before LeMond, before Armstrong, long before these men there was a true champion from the US. This book is really a must read. Major Taylor overcame huge racial barriers to become nation and world champion. One of the greatist cyclists is almost forgotten in history.
I havn’t read the new book about him yet, Major: A Black Athlete, a White Era, and the Fight to Be the World’s Fastest Human Being though it’s on my reading list for the summer.
Hinault - Memories of the Peloton This one is a little difficult to read and jumps around a little, but is truely worth it. It exposes the human side of one of the heros of cycling. We see both the huge amount of strength and courage it takes to succeed at the highest level of the sport, and the fragility of doubt that surrounds an athlete.
I’m sure there’s some other I could list, but these are my top 2.

I have read a few of them. #s 3, 5, 8 & 9. I would like to read Floyd’s book, but I can’t bring myself to buy or read it. In this country you are innocent until proven guilty, and like it or not , so far he has been proven guilty.
Good luck to him with this next attempt.
Ride On!
